November 6 2012. A small number of astronomy students gathered together
for an overnight observing and imaging session at the RTU quadrangle.
The skies were partly cloudy at first but eventually cleared up later in
the evening. Several deep-sky targets were observed and imaged
including the double cluster in Perseus, several open clusters in
Cassiopeia, and many others.
The Taurids meteor shower also provided a
good show that evening. The Taurids is an annual meteor shower during November with a ZHR of 5. The source of this meteor shower is the comet Encke.
The night ended with the observation of the last
quarter Moon.
